THE HERBAL GARDEN
All the oil extracts (infusion oils) contained in our ointments are produced in the Monastery. The extraction is mainly made by heat-infusion. The herbs are immersed in their carrier oils in stipulated analogies and controlled temperature by the means of up-to-date equipment. Along with the oil extracts, hydroalcoholic extracts are also being deployed. The active constituents of the herbal extracts are boosted by other basic materials like essential oils and hydrosol, which are known for their efficacy in skin care. This way, the effectiveness of the ointments is intensified and the greatest result when applied is ensured.
The combination of the aromatic herbs, and, by extension, of their extracts in the ointments is based on scientific research and advice of specialists in collaboration with the Monastery. Above all, the ten-year feedback the Sisters had been given from people who benefited from the products is of invaluable assistance in their efforts.

Sea Buckthorn The constituents found in the fruit of the herb have powerful antioxidant properties and a high concentration of Vitamin A, C, E, b-carotene and vitamins of the B complex. Sea buckthorn apart from being toning and supportive for the immune system, it is also applied for the treatment of burns, injuries and eczema. Its constituents speed up both the healing of wounds and skin epitheliazation, and combat skin aging. It is also a rich source of omega 3-6-7-9 fatty acids which are important for collagen production.
St. John's Wort Its oily extract known as “St. John’s Wort Oil” displays an anti-inflammatory action because of its high concentration of flavonoids. It acts as a painkiller for cramps, neuralgia, and migraine. It is reported to be extremely antiseptic and it is applied externally not only for wounds but also for burns and sores. According to studies, iperferon, prohibits the development of bacteria such as “Streptococcus pyogenicm Streptococcus agalactiae. It is effective against the penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and the methicillin - resistant Staphylococcus aureus (PRSA). Based on the above it can be concluded that it is a remedy for infected injuries and eczema.
Calendula Calendula petals are primarily known for their healing abilities against skin irritation and rash. It prevents the spread of the infection and speeds up recovery. It is used externally for eczema, burns, micosis, sunburns, athlete’s foot and against inflammations in general. Its antifungal, antibacterial, and antivirus properties are attributed to the presence of different chemical compounds including carbohydrates, amino acids, lipids, terpenoids, flavonoids and other constituents in its oil extract. The effectiveness in the healing of wounds, sores and various inflammatory and minor skin conditions is due to effecting blood capillary vessels tightening.
Rosehip Its fruit is used for the enhancement of the immune system as it has a high concentration of vitamin C that aids the treatment of infections and colds. The fruit exhibits diuretic, cleaning and styptic properties. It is applied on sores, fractures, eczema, varicose veins, dehydrated lips. Wild rose oil is widely used for facial skin care and against acne. It contains antioxidants that prevent cells from antioxidant stress and helps skin look youthful and healthy as it enhances collagen and elastin production.
Chamomile Chamomile has been proved to have anti-inflammatory, healing, soothing action. Its component, bisabolol, is found in cosmetic products. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is recommended for various skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema and irritated skin.
Geranium Essential Oil It presents a mild antibacterial and antifungal action. It is thought to be very toning, astrigent and hemostatic. Citronellol, geraniol and linalool are some of its therapeutic elements.

Μακράν η καλύτερη κηραλοιφή που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει!

Χρειαζόμουν μια αγνή ενυδατική και μαλακτική κηραλοιφή για να βοηθήσει το δέρμα στο κρύο του χειμώνα. Τη χρησιμοποιώ στα παιδικά ρουθουνάκια, στα χέρια που κοκκινίζουν και αγριεύουν, στα δάχτυλα και γύρω από τα νύχια, που μπορεί να πονάνε πολύ αν τα αφήσεις. Η συγκεκριμένη είναι πολύ εκλεπτυσμένη, διότι ενώ είναι πραγματική κηραλοιφή, συμπαγής, με ένα (ομολογουμένως υπέροχο!) βαθύ κίτρινο χρώμα, όταν απλώνεται στο δέρμα απορροφάται σχετικά γρήγορα, νιώθεις ότι παραμένει στο δέρμα μεν, αλλά χωρίς να ενοχλεί, όπως άλλες κηραλοιφές.

Η κηραλοιφή αυτή είναι ένα υπέροχο προϊόν με εξαιρετικό άρωμα. Έχει ένα λαμπερό χρώμα. του γνήσιου κεριού, και είναι συμπαγής μέσα στο βαζάκι της. Αρκεί όμως μια μικρή ποσότητα στο δέρμα και μεταμορφώνεται σε ένα διάφανο φιλμ, με διακριτικό άρωμα, που απορροφάται αμέσως και έχει πολύ ωραία μαλακτική αίσθηση! Την αφήνω να δρα όλη νύχτα στα χέρια που είναι ερεθισμένα από το κρύο, στα χείλη και στα νύχια των χεριών. Ιδιαίτερα τα νύχια, το πρωί είναι ενυδατωμένα και λαμπερά! Μια επιπλέον χρήση της που έχω ανακαλύψει, είναι να βάζω μια πολύ μικρή ποσότητα πίσω από τα αυτιά, που έχουν πληγωθεί από την πολύωρη χρήση προστατευτικής μάσκας λόγω του covid.
Είναι η πρώτη φορά που χρησιμοποιώ κηραλοιφή και το αγνό αυτό προϊόν, που είναι γνήσιο, με έχει ενθουσιάσει!
